History |

New Hampshire Industries, located in Lebanon, NH, was founded in the early 1960's, when it started as a spin off from Splitball Bearing (division of MPB, now Timken Aerospace). Known as an idler pulley producer for nearly 30 years, NHI added drive pulleys in 1990, and spindles in 1998. To service our customers better, we also added a line of cast pulleys and sheaves in 2001.
Our original bearing design, now known as our "A" series, started the company with a line of moderate load and moderate speed idler pulleys. Idlers for higher loads and speeds (NHI's "H" series) became available from NHI in the mid-1970's. Today our idler pulley lines use both bearing types in both stamped steel pulleys and molded polymer pulleys. The heavier bearing ("H" series) is also built into our split-formed steel idler families, featuring replaceable or non-replaceable bearings with the same construction as our split-formed drive pulleys.
When we introduced split-formed steel drive pulleys to the Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) industry in 1990 we were bringing a new concept to that marketplace. Since then, its performance benefits and economical pricing have become well known, similar to the high performance/low pricing that the original "A" series idler pulley provided the same industry in the early 1960's. NHI now produces split-formed drive and idler pulleys in "V", flat, and round bottom (cable) grooves.
Both fully-machined drive pulleys and spindles have been added as logical extensions to the NHI product lines, taking advantage of NHI's manufacturing capabilities to help expand our product offerings. We added "cast and machined" drive pulleys to be your "one stop pulley shop".
