Applications

In addition to the outdoor power equipment market, NHI supplies split steel pulleys for a multitude of industrial and commercial applications including physical fitness machines, air compressors and air handling units, clutch assemblies, hoist door operators and swing gate operators.  Split steel pulleys can be joined together on shafts or tubing forming jackshafts and tandem pulley assemblies.

Design Variations

Recognizing our customers’ needs for new designs, closer tolerances and greater reliability, NHI is equipped to provide the one-piece split steel design concept in flat belt open or flanged, V-type, wire rope and cable and numerous other configurations limited only by our customers’ imagination and application requirements.

NHI offers the split-formed pulley with or without hubs, for various mounting applications, and in a variety of shapes and sizes to facilitate our customers’ needs.

Although initially designed as drive pulleys, the split steel concept is also utilized for idler pulleys accommodating either sleeve (plane) or ball (rolling element) bearings, providing the end user with the strength of cast or machined pulleys at reduced cost while improving balance and reliability while reducing weight.  Lightening holes can be incorporated into the design to further reduce the weight.
